InterDev Australia is a Melbourne based specialist provider in Mobility Solutions and systems integration. Through our research and development investment we have created the Xmotion Mobile Middleware solution that allows mobile workers to directly interact with their business applications in a reliable, secure and cost efficient manner.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with skills and a passion for J2EE software engineering. The candidate will be looking to provide solution design and technical leadership throughout the Software Development Lifecycle whilst still making a significant personal contribution to the teams development output.
This is a growth opportunity in a small, dynamic company with a history of multiple Australian Government R&D Grants for innovative products.
Key Responsibilities
• The successful candidate will have specific skills to design, document, implement and test the server side components of our Mobile Middleware product, including
o J2EE/EE5 based Server development with enterprise class architecture and design
o Online transaction processing applications
o Google Web Toolkit (GWT) browser based user interfaces.
o Automated Build and Unit Testing
• Drive the work of the server side development team from a technical perspective to create efficient, robust solutions.
• Mentor other InterDev software engineers and provide technical advice and recommendations drawing on past industry experience.
• Work with customers as necessary during detailed design, implementation and support phases of a project to maintain and enhance InterDev’s reputation as a trusted provider of real world mobility solutions.
• Provide ongoing support to InterDev’s existing customers.
Key Competencies
Mandatory
• Strong software design and documentation skills
• Comprehensive hands on experience of Java and J2EE/EE5 including the following technologies JBoss, JDBC, EJB, JMS, GWT, JSP and Web Services.
• A thorough understanding of OO development and software engineering principles.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teaming skills.
• Ability to take the technical lead of a project team while maintaining an attention to detail
• Maven and/or Ant experience.
• Exposure to automated build systems like Hudson.
• Mature understanding of what it means to be customer focused
• Database development and data modelling knowledge – SQL
• A working knowledge of internet based protocols e.g. IP, UDP and TCP.
• Ability to lead the further development of coding designs and standards
• Java technologies for XML processing and XML schema design.
Desirable
• Microsoft .Net development experience using .Net, C#, VB.NET and ASP.NET
Mandatory Qualifications
• 7+ years of practical software engineering experience
• Bachelor degree qualifications in relevant tertiary discipline (eg Computer Science)
• Australian Permanent Resident
