Project: Technical Assistance to the Rural Infrastructure Development Programme (RIDP) component 2 Capacity development for the irrigation sector
Assist the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Development (Department of Irrigation) for the coordination of feasibility studies and technical capacity building
REQUIRED PROFILE:
Qualifications and skills
• Must have a post-graduate degree in Irrigation/Civil Engineering.
• Must possess excellent communication and transfer of knowledge skills (for capacity building activities).
• Must possess good coordination and leadership skills to coordinate the Short term TA activities.
• Must have experience of team management comprising international and local experts; the ability to operate within multi-sectoral, multi-cultural teams and demonstrate flexibility in working style.
• Must be able to write clear, concise technical reports in English and be able to communicate technical details in a clear and simple manner.
Specific professional experience
• Must have a minimum of 10 years professional experience including at least 5 years on irrigation development programmes.
• Must have experience in conducting of detailed feasibility studies for irrigation schemes and dams, preferably in southern Africa.
• Should preferably have experience of capacity building with counterpart staff
• Must have knowledge of programme management and procurement
• Experience of public sector reform, institutional strengthening, developing and implementing capacity building programmes preferably in the irrigation sector will be desirable.
