Ontario
Duties
and responsibilities:
  • Works
    under the direction of the President and in close collaboration with the
    management team.
  • Supervises
    one administrative clerk who assists in accounts payable and receivable.
  • Performs
    the duties of the Director of Human Resources: HR policies and compliance,
    payroll, pay equity and progression, job descriptions, HR planning, group insurance,
    WSIB, recruiting and onboarding, performance reviews, holiday schedules,
    training programs, staff events, celebrations.
  • Performs
    the duties of the Director of Finance: bookkeeping, financial compliance,
    reporting and remittances, bill entries from suppliers and accounts
    payable, overdue collections on accounts receivable, customer credit
    applications, customer payments, bank deposits, credit cards, monthly and
    yearly reconciliations of accounts, T4s and T5s, grant claims, annual
    statements, insurance, financial analysis and performance metrics.
  • Performs
    the duties of the Director of workplace health and safety: leading the
    company’s safety committee, regulatory compliance in matters of health and
    safety, designing, updating and training in matters of health and safety,
    internal safety inspections and audits, reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Performs
    the duties of the Director of administration: regulatory compliance and
    remittances (AgriCorp, GFO, BCorp certification, workplace accessibility,
    violence and harassment), general corporate administration, corporate
    filing and archives, special corporate development projects.
  • Other
    general duties that the President may assign.
Qualifications
and skills
  • College
    diploma or University degree in business, HR administration, or a relevant
    field.
  • Experience
    in agriculture and food would be an asset.
  • At
    least 3 years experience in human resource management, business
    administration, or finance.
  • Strong
    leadership skills. Ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate.
  • Strong
    management skills. Effectively organize resources; plan and respect
    schedules; adapt to changing priorities; manage multiple parallel
    activities; and make sound decisions.
  • Strong
    intellectual skills. Ability to grasp, navigate, and use government
    regulations, mathematic concepts related to financial analysis, financial
    structures, businesses processes, complexities, and extensive details.
  • Strong
    sense of initiative and responsibility to lead changes and make an impact
    on the company.
  • Strong
    communication skills. Write competent reports and plans; present reports
    and exchange information with colleagues; adapt the communication style to
    the situation and the other individual.
  • Strong
    IT skills. Competently use email, word processing, spreadsheets, inventory
    management software, and financial management software. Experience with
    QuickBooks would be an asset.
  • Self-confident,
    patient, calm, good humored, respectful, easy to get along with.
  • Fluent
    in English. Ability to communicate in French is an asset but not required.
Work
environment and benefits
  • The
    job description is in the context of a company of 25 people in three
    locations with sales growing at a rate of 15-40% per year which presents a
    fast pace and variable stress levels.
  • The
    place of work is be in Morrisburg ON.
  • The
    business operates a typical office environment. Occasional telecommuting
    is available.
  • The
    environment contains traces of grain, ground, and mineral dust.
  • The
    work schedule is approximately 40 hours per week, normal daytime on
    weekdays, subject to variation as may be required.
  • Standard
    statutory holidays apply, plus 2 weeks of paid vacation and 6 days of paid
    time off per year.
  • The
    company’s group insurance plan is paid 50-50 by the employee and the
    employer.
  • The
    target pay range is $18-$23 per hour.
