candidate for the role of Program and Volunteer Coordinator. Gain great

help2kids is a young, dynamic
organization located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city, which is
situated on the Indian Ocean and in Lifuwu, a small village on Lake Malawi in
Malawi. We help the community in Lifuwu by providing support in health,
education and youth development. We promote sustainable development and
socially responsible tourism by feeding the profits from our guest houses back
into our projects.
We are currently
seeking a Program and Volunteer Coordinator in Malawi to help with volunteer
management, project planning, and monitoring and evaluation. In this role you
would be responsible for all aspects of our volunteer program, including the
application process, orientation, scheduling, and team-building events as well
as the overseeing of project sites and coordinating project implementation with
the Field Manager. This is a great position for someone who is passionate about
children and volunteerism, and who is interested in gaining experience in the
field.

Job
Objective
Project
Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
· Assist the field
manager with carrying out donor-funded projects.
· Assist as needed
in purchasing materials locally and in Salima, ensuring the budget is being
followed, monitoring the project’s progress, creating completion reports for
the donors, and evaluating the project.
· Develop M&E
templates and programme documents.
· Represent the
organization at district executive, health or education meetings as needed.
· Meet weekly with
the field manager to set plans and communicate on project needs or concerns.
Fundraising
· Manage and keep
track of donations made by current and former volunteers.
· Write reports for
donors on programme implementation.
Volunteer
coordination
· Be responsible for
volunteer coordination, support and schedules
· Coordinate all
volunteer pre-arrival and post-arrival administration, including answering
volunteer inquiries, updating volunteer platforms and calendars, following a
step-by-step volunteer intake process, confirming airport pick-up, sending
volunteer certificates, surveys, requests for sponsorship, etc.
· Provide
orientation for new volunteers to projects and offer volunteer support.
· Create and
coordinate volunteer schedules, timetables, and meetings.
Qualifications
Things we are
looking for in the ideal candidate:
- Minimum
1 year commitment - Minimum
Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, development studies, economic, or a
related field - Fluency
in English (Additional languages – German/Chichewa-valuable asset) - Exceptional
written and oral communication skills - Strong
interpersonal and team building skills - A
passion for working with children and youth - Ability
to work with limited resources in a sometimes challenging environment - Ability
to cultivate enthusiasm in others - Proficiency
in Microsoft Office - Work
well under minimal supervision and be self-motivated - Work
well with team of local staff, foreign staff and international volunteers - Integrity,
adaptability, flexibility and willingness to chip in where needed - Be
willing to live on-site at the Friendly Gecko Guesthouse - Previous
experience living in Africa preferred - Drivers’
license and ability to drive the organization’s manual car
