Help a
Child
Help a Child (HaC)
is a Christian international NGO specialized in community development with its
headquarters in the Netherlands. Founded in 1968, HaC’s mission is to improve
the wellbeing of children living in poverty and crisis through supportive
communities. Principal sources of income are child & family sponsorship,
foundations and institutional donors. HaC’s strategy is to empower marginalized
children, youth, parents and the broader community and other stakeholders,
mainly through a Self Help Group approach. Main interventions are focused at
early childhood development, education, (agricultural) vocational training and
economic development, with special attention for the position of girls and
women, and children’s rights.
Position
HaC has chosen a
bold and ambitious growth strategy for the Rwanda programs. The Country Program
Director (CPD) will execute the strategy successfully by:
- Delivering
an increasing number of high quality programs, including quality control
& evaluation; - Successfully
creating and capitalizing on fundraising opportunities; - Being
responsible for strategic stakeholder management and sound financial
management; - Being
responsible for team management & development; - Representing
HaC in the community and towards other stakeholders, together with the
Program Manager Youth & Work and the Program Manager Early Childhood
Development.
The current Rwanda
team (6fte) will grow in line with the growth of the programs. A team of
dedicated and specialist colleagues in the Netherlands offer all the support
needed to successfully execute the strategy.
Qualifications
- 5+
years of Program Management experience with community development or 5+
years of International Business Development experience in (Eastern)
Africa; - Minimum
of an Advanced Degree, preferably related to entrepreneurship, business
management and/or marketing; - Demonstrated
experience building professional networks at a senior level; - Proven
track record in identifying, creating and capitalizing on funding or
business opportunities; - Results
driven and motivated by a sense of performance excellence and urgency; - Strong
communication skills, both verbally and written; - Personal
qualities of integrity, credibility, interpersonal and cross cultural
sensitivity; - Fluent
in English and preferably proficient in French; - Being a
Christian, adhering to the Christian identity of HaC.

impact. HaC offers a fair pay and benefits package that is justifiable to our
donors. Furthermore, you will be offered a fixed term contract for the first 2
years. Depending on your performance and fit with the program and staff, the
contract will be extended.
