GRAPHIC
DESIGNER

SUMMARY
The person in this
role will work directly with the Art Director to assist in the design, layout,
and organization of articles and departments to appear both online and in the
print version of the magazine.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Art Director and design team with magazine layouts, retouching of
images, coordination with photographers and any other design projects as
required
Support the Online E
ditor with repurposing of articles and retouching of images
for online use
File preparation for pre-press production
Ensure deadlines are met and prepare layouts in advance of future publications
Provide creative input and collaborate with photographers, illustrators and
writers to facilitate content development
Promote an efficient workflow between the editorial and art departments
Oversee art and photography database
Organization, archiving and cataloging of department folders on internal server
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree
or diploma in Graphic Design or a related field, or relevant experience with an
emphasis on print and digital media, is required. Special consideration will be
given to those with experience in magazine layout or an interest in the fitness
publishing industry.
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and hands-on experience with graphic design
Possess a high level of artistic skill and creativity
Experience in print and digital design
Proven ability in layout, design and visual communication
Ability to prioritize and complete projects on time
Proficiency in: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). HTML
and Flash abilities are an asset
