BACKGROUND
Good
Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development
Non- Governmental Organization in General Consultative Status with the United
Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). GNI strives to improve lives,
especially children’s lives, through community development projects. In order
to complete its staff, Good Neighbors International would like to
recruitdifferent staff with the following positions:
Position:
Veterinarian
Based
in Kigali
Key
responsibilities include;
  • Provide
    technical assistance to project manager in the coordination of the
    distribution of livestock to beneficiaries
  • Conduct
    training needs assessment and coordinate trainings in basic veterinary
    services and livestock raising to the community
  • Support
    beneficiaries in the establishment of private basic veterinary shops
  • Examine
    livestock to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries
  • Treat
    sick or injured livestock by prescribing medication, setting bones,
    dressing wounds, or performing surgery
  • Inoculate
    livestock against various diseases such as rabies and distemper
  • Collect
    body tissue, feces, blood, urine, or other body fluids for examination and
    analysis
  • Advise
    livestock owners regarding sanitary measures, feeding, and general care
    necessary to promote health of animals
  • Monitor
    milk collection center operational activities and advise beneficiaries
    accordingly
  • Encourage
    GNI beneficiaries to contribute to the growth of their own community
    Development Fund (CDF)
  • Supervise
    and monitor dairy farmers Group administration, finance, accounting and
    records keeping procedures
Qualifications
and skills;
  • The
    candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine, level A0
  • Experienced
    at least 2 years in veterinary profession with the ability to work in a
    remote area
  • Fluent
    in English (written and oral)
  • Good
    computer skills (Microsoft word, Excel, power point) and report writing
    skills.
  • Skills
    in dairy business management are preferred.
