On behalf of our client in the Renewable Energy Industry based in Arusha we are
urgently seeking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Engineering
Manager with job Ref Number: GS/HT/04413to support our rapid expansion
throughout Northern Tanzania.
Job Purpose
To manage a team of technicians and training personnel, managing service
workshop, overseeing technical aspects of the company’s operations, quality
assurance programs and coordinating with operations teams to support world
class customer service and also contribute in evaluating, testing and
developing strategies for new and improved solar systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
§ closely support CTO and senior technical staff in achieving departmental
goals of developing world class solar products, support operations team in
training internal agent success staff, develops and build the service workshop,
and support all technical aspects of company operations in Tanzania.
§ Build a team of top-notch service personnel and technicians who will
ensure the company products are well maintained, properly diagnosed and
repaired for redeployment into customers’ homes and businesses.
§ Support agent success team by providing technical and installation
training to Auditors and Field Trainers. Provide feedback to training
curriculum developers.
§ Be fully responsible for hiring, training, promoting and disciplining
technical staff. Complete all administrative reports, HR and payroll administration
and maintain employee files.
§ Organize employee schedules, transportation, safety and coordinate with
operations staff to organize field activities.
§ Support local engineering staff in testing products, setting up field
tests for new products and provide user feedback.
§ Collect, organize and compile technical data from field trials and work
with local engineering staff to create testing reports.
§ Accomplishes human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting,
coaching, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; enforcing
policies and procedures.
§ Assist operational teams in developing quality control and quality
assurance processes.
§ Meet financial objectives by developing and managing internal
departmental budget, scheduling expenditures; manage tool and equipment
inventories for technical work.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree of Science in Electrical
Engineering or equivalent level of technical education
§ Three (3) years minimum work experience, in technical roles of
increasing responsibility including field engineering, electrical engineering
and installation, team leadership and management, tracking budget expenses,
self-development and demonstrated performance management
§ Experience hiring & managing teams in Africa
§ Outstanding written and verbal communications skills (English and
Kiswahili)
Competencies/skills:
§ Candidates must have a passion for technical excellence, excellent
organizational skills, and a strong desire to improve the lives of the
Tanzanian people.
§ Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, internet functions
§ Ability and drive to work independently with minimal supervision
§ Education and/or work experience in both East Africa and abroad
§ Strong solar energy experience preferred
§ Strong power electronics and circuitry education and experience
preferred
§ Experience creating and managing budgets
§ An understanding of rural East Africa and technical challenges of
working in such environments
§ Ability to work independently and provide standard reports to remote
supervisors
§ Ability to drive a manual vehicle
