Overview:

This key member of the Evergreen team is responsible for the planning,
coordination, implementation and evaluation of cycling programs based
at Evergreen Brick Works, as well supporting other site-based programs
as assigned. This role supports Evergreen’s mission to inspire and
enable action to green cities by promoting and increasing access to
cycling — as both a recreational activity and means of active
transportation – for Evergreen’s diverse GTA audiences, through
accessible and engaging programs at Evergreen’s community bike space:
the Bike Works shop. The Project Leader will work closely with the
Program Directors, other staff, and project stakeholders, partners,
consultants and funders to ensure successful, timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
• Based on existing project plans, proposals, and budgets, the Leader
will develop and ensure adherence to critical paths for Bike Works and
other assigned projects;
• Act as primary point-of-contact for internal and external project
stakeholders, including the advisory bodies such as the Bike Works
Advisory Committee, delivery partners such as Sweet Pete’s Bike Shop,
community partners, consultants, and funders;
• Track and manage project budget(s)
• Manage and support Project Coordinators, site animators, interns,
and/or volunteers;
• Oversee implementation of the evaluation plan for Bike Works
operations and programs;
• Contribute to Evergreen’s Marketing and Communications activities
for Evergreen Brick Works;;
• Work with Evergreen Development Associates to raise additional funds
to support the project, as necessary; and to report to funders, as
needed;
• Participate in presentations, publicity, and other outreach about
the project, as required;
• Provide strategic advice and input on project content, structure and
delivery.

Reporting Relationships:
• Supervised by: Site Manager, Evergreen Brick Works
• Supervises: Bike Works Shop Coordinator, Seasonal animators/
bike-mechanics, Volunteers and Interns

Qualifications:
• Post-secondary degree in sustainability, recreation, health
promotion, or education (or equivalent experience)
• At least 1 year’s experience in project or program leadership in the
environmental, educational, non-profit or social-services sector.
• Demonstrated track record in planning and facilitation/delivery of
recreational community programs (e.g., training sessions, workshops);
• Strong expertise in cycling skills, bike maintenance/repair, and
cycling promotion;
• Demonstrated ability and comfort working with diverse populations
and ability levels
• Ability to work independently and manage personal work schedule
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills – seeks assistance
as required
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License (an asset)
• Standard First Aid and CPR required (or willing to obtain)
• Can Bike 2 Certified (an asset)
• Bike mechanic certification – BAM, Barnett’s, Winterbourne or
equivalent experience gained in a DIY Bike shop or retail bike setting
(an asset)

Working conditions:
• Some work outdoors in inclement weather
• Some evening and weekend work required

Physical requirements:
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Lifting objects in excess of 20 lbs on a regular basis

Terms of contract:
• (April – October), with possibility of renewal
• $20/hr starting rate
• 30+ hoursper week, including evening and weekend hours as needed
