wer Meprogram is seeking a dynamic,
community-driven, team player ready to hit the ground running in the
position of Energy Mentor – Chinese community. Empower Me Energy
Mentors promote and implement Empower Me, an energy savings program
designed for Chinese and South Asian communities across Metro
Vancouver. Empower Me Energy Mentors are selected based on their roles
and influence in these communities. They are trained to create and
deliver customized energy plans and to encourage energy-saving action
among others in these communities.

The ideal Energy Mentor – Chinese community has experience working
with community organizations and understands the unique needs and
requirements of the Chinese communities and cultures. They are
positive, enthusiastic, and able to maintain calm under pressure. The
Energy Mentor – Chinese Community is well-connected within Metro
Vancouver’s Chinese communities and interested in making an impact
through their own networks.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work one-on-one with families, coaching and mentoring them through
an energy savings plan
• Report on successes and status of program (data entry)
• Execute street-level grassroots marketing and outreach campaigns
• Attend community events as a representative of Empower Me
• Report on relevant experiences working with families as an Energy Mentor

Required Skills & Experience:
• Familiarity with Chinese culture and connections to Chinese
communities in Metro Vancouver
• Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, email, basic data entry)
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Applicant must be able to speak, read and write in ideally Mandarin
and Cantonese (at least one)
• Able to work independently with little supervision
• Ability to provide program information to Chinese community members
in language
• Applicants must have access to a home computer

Desired Skills & Experience:
• Experience with street-level grassroots marketing campaigns
• Organization and planning skills
• Familiarity with energy, sustainability, and conservation or
willingness to learn
• Experience working with various community organizations in BC or the
Lower Mainland
• Access to an iPad

We offer flexible working hours and a relaxed, open, and supportive
environment. This is an hourly, part-time position, including some
business hours as well as evenings and weekends.
