We are looking for a Communications Manager for our team in Rwanda, to work with our public relations, market our products, and develop and maintain our online platforms. You will be part of a small and dynamic organisation offering various trainings and support activities to Rwandan entrepreneurs and businesses.
About Educat
Educat’s vision is to eradicate poverty by developing the private sector, fostering job creation and facilitating closer collaboration between the public, private and social sectors. Educat cultivates entrepreneurial skills, attitudes and opportunities and we believe positive change starts at the level of the individual. We believe that change-makers exist at all levels of society and Educat’s goal is to unleash the full potential of Rwanda’s existing and future entrepreneurs and leaders.
Educat is a young, social enterprise with roots in Denmark but has worked in Rwanda since 2009. Our goal in Rwanda is to establish an economically self-sustaining centre, focusing on entrepreneurship and business development, social innovation and cross sectored integration: the Rwandan Entrepreneurs and Leaders (REAL) Centre. Currently our core activities are training and support of Rwandan entrepreneurs and businesses – ranging from micro-businesses to larger corporations. We are also working towards securing initial investments for the centre.
About the job/internship
The successful candidate will be responsible for solving a number of different tasks, including:
– Advocating for Educat’s work incl. writing articles, blogs, etc.;
– Marketing of training products incl. writing and designing of marketing materials;
– Maintaining and further developing our Danish and Rwandan websites and our social media platforms;
– Manage various day-to-day tasks within web and graphic design.
In addition, Educat strongly believes in broad involvement of all staff in both the development and implementation of our different activities. We always encourage new ideas, experiments and teamwork across all organizational areas; we need you to take leadership and be pro-active.
What do we expect from you?
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and competencies:
– Excellent both verbal and written English communication skills and in experience in communicating to different target groups;
– Knowledge of, new ideas on and experience with strategic communication and marketing;
– Documented skills in web design and web development;
– Documented skills within graphic design/layout using InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop;
– Interest in and preferably knowledge on entrepreneurship, leadership and international development work.
We also expect you to be ambitious on behalf of Rwanda, your colleagues and Educat. You should be aspiring towards your own learning and achievements; be curious and critical in your work; thrive in changing environments; be innovative and question existing procedures. In short we expect you to be entrepreneurial.
What can you expect from us?
As a part of Educat, you will be delegated a lot of responsibility and will be exposed to a wide-range of challenges. You will also experience that the work you do will make a difference. Educat provides a small allowance, which can be sufficient to cover basic housing, phone and transport to work. However, you will pay for your travel expenses incl. working visa as well as other living costs. The Communications Manager should start as soon as possible on a six-month contract, including one month of vacation. The position is conditional based on confirmation of expected funding.
