East Zone with the main office located in Zomba
With support from the UK’s Medical Research Council, DI has partnered with the
London School of Hygeine and Tropical Medicine and the
Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome (MLW) Trust to conduct a clinical trial titled: Rapid
Urine-Based Screening for Tuberculosis to Reduce AIS-Related Mortality in
Hospitalised Patients in Africa (STAMP trial). The study will take place
at Zomba Central Hospital as well as Edendale, South Africa. The
overarching aim of this work is to determine whether the use of a fundamentally
new approach to rapid diagnostic screening for HIV-associated tuberculosis (TB)
using novel, high-sensitivity urine-based testing reduces mortality among
HIV-infected patients requiring admissions to medical wards
DI is therefore seeking to recruit highly motivated person for the following
position
Study Physician – Dignitas International – Zomba
Is responsible for all day-to-day STAMP Trial activities carried out at Zomba
Central Hospital. The Study Physician will have the opportunity to enrol
in a Masters of Science Degree in Clinical Trial Management at the London
School of hygiene and Tropical Medicine, This opportunity will be funded by the
study
Ensues that the STAMP study is set up and executed at the Zomba site as
stipulated in the study protocol and associated documents and consistent with
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, Responsible for the development and
implementation of all site standard operating procedures in conjunction with
the study-site Principal Investigator and co-investigators, Supervises all
study staff to assure that study protocols are adhered to and GCP guidelines
are followed, Ensures that the STAMP team conducts study informed consent with
potential clients and enrols those who accept to joint the study, Implements
and enforces site quality control measures, Drafts all study-related internal
and external reports including external technical reports as required by the
Principal investigator and co-investigators, Responsibility for overseeing
entry and management of project data,, by the data team
Evidence of ability to meet deadlines, Strong communication and representation
and negotiation skills with excellent spoken and written English and Chichewa,
Excellent team leadership, team working and relationship building skills with
the ability to develop positive working relations across functions and
cultures, Research experience on TB/HIV in Malawi is desirable, Bachelors
Degree of Medicine and Bachelors Degree of Surgery (MBBS)
