Cooperative Development Officer – Dowa – DAPP

Closely working with Cooperative management team with aim of organisational and
institutional development of DAPP Dowa Women Farmers Clubs and Cooperatives for
social and economic development, Ensure that DAPP Dowa Women Farmers
clubs/Cooperatives operate as a business entity, Take responsibility in
providin
g the required assistance to Cooperative management and to ensure that
day to day operations of the cooperative conform with the policies adopted by
the board, establish practices and procedures for daily operations that will
ensure a staple, profitable and growing cooperative including bookkeeping and
business management, Conduct Institutional and Organisations development
assessments for farmers groups, clubs or cooperatives and associations,
Identify gaps requiring technical assistance in general cooperative management
and crop production processes, Provide the required training or solicit the
training in cooperative development, management and
institutional development, Provide mentoring and advisory service to DAPP Dowa
Women Farmers Clubs/groups/Associations and Cooperatives

Passion for raising the social and economic status of rural farmers in Malawi,
Familiarity with the agribusiness environment in Malawi, Vast experience in
Farmers Organisations/movement in general and management in particular, Strong
leadership and mentoring skills but is also a team player, Dynamic and has
commercial drive, Ability to lead a team to meet deadlines, Positive attitude
towards work and to deliver results, Ability to work according to given
guidelines and deadlines, Very good communication skills Readiness to travel
inside Malawi in town, cities as well as rural areas in order to perform
duties

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Economics or any relevant degree,
Minimum 20-3 yrs working experience working with Farm or Farmers Organisation,
Associations, and Cooperatives or the Agribusiness sector, Some experience in
the NGO sector will be an added advantage
