Communication
Communication is the transfer of ideas
from the sender to the receiver. It is an indispensable management tools, it is
away or an act that an individual uses to transfer meaning, ideas, feelings,
emotions or attitude to others.

There
are speechless messages that are transmitted by facial expression, by the use
of eyes, body movement, gesticulation of the hands, shaking the head for
approval or disapproval, smiling and frowning, all these are accurate ways of
expressing oneself.
Inefficient
communication in an organization reflect a faulty co – operate chain. When
manager in an organization is friendly and has a good working rapport,
communication tends to be very good. When the members in an organization engage
in mutual distrust, resentment and gossip, there is communication breakdown.
All
the key function of an organization depends on effective communication for
proper execution. Data communication is a means by which a user communicates
with the computer systems. It can be weekly, monthly, bi-annual or annually.
WHAT
IS TELECOMMUNICATION?
Data communication is also referred to
as telecommunication involving files of computerized data. Tele communication
can be defined as communication of information from one device to another, by
electronic means, usually over some distance.

A data communication system is made up
of five component namely:
      Message
      Sender
      Receiver
      Medium
      Protocol
1)   Message: the
message is the information (data) to be communicated. It can consist of text,
numbers pictures, sound or video or any combination of these
2)   Sender:
the sender is the device that sends the data message. It can be a computer,
workstation, telephone handset, video camera and so on.
3)   Receiver:
the receiver is the device that receives the message. It can be a computer
workstation, telephone handset, television and so on.
4)   Medium:
the transmission medium is the physical path which a coaxial cable, fibre-
optic cable, laser or radio waves ( terrestrial or satellite microwaves)
5)   Protocol:
A protocol is a set of rules that govern data communication. It represents an
arrangement between the communicating devices. Without a protocol, two devices
may be connected but not communication, just as a person speaking Hausa cannot
be understood by a person who speaks only Urhobo.
