Established in 1979,
Columbia International College is the largest private boarding high school for
international students in Canada.  With strong emphasis on high academic
standards, leadership and discipline, 100% of Columbia’s Pre-U graduates have
been accepted into universities in Canada and the USA over the last 15 years.

We are currently
recruiting for a Head of Senior School. This is a two year contract, with the
possibility of an extension, starting in August 12, 2013. The Head of Senior
School works collaboratively with the Principal in order to manage coordinate,
supervise, and provide leadership for all educational and administrative school
activities.

Key responsibilities
include:

Working closely with
the principal on timetabling and curriculum issues.
Working with department heads on course assignment.
Meeting  regularly with department heads to ensure that academic
initiatives are being properly implemented
Working closely with Department Heads to ensure that all teachers are following
Ministry of Education and CIC policies and procedures.
Implementing Academic strategic plans as they relate to the Senior School
Developing and implementing policies and procedures that relate to the Senior
School
Creating and managing a supply teaching roster
Working closely with Junior middle School and Student development to maintain
consistency in policy and procedures across within the school
Monitor expenditures for the Senior School
Follow up on performance issues resulting from faculty reviews
Recommending training initiatives to the principal
Ensuring that grading practices are consistent across each department
Engaging the student body in end of the semester curriculum and teacher reviews
Counseling students on a variety of topics including: disciple, attendance,
transfers and withdrawals.
Representing the School as required.

Qualifications

University degree
Ontario Teaching Certificate
7 – 10 years of successful teaching experience in a secondary school
Extensive experience in a multi-cultural environment
Formal course work or training in at least some of the following areas:
Curriculum development
Personnel Administration
Educational Programming administration
Educational Planning
Student-Administration relationships
School Law
School Finance
Instructional supervision
