Requirements
Responsibilities
- Establish
overall technical direction and goals, applying technical/scientific
expertise to defining targets and measuring program performance across
several diagnostic focus areas and multiple funding streams - Partner
closely with LST Senior Director to shape and execute overall diagnostic
strategy development at CHAI. - Contribute
to the development and implementation of policy and advocacy strategies
related to diagnostics to generate attention, resources and to achieve
policy changes needed to best achieve diagnostic goals, - Build
and oversee a portfolio of strategic research, technical and scientific
initiatives to match the goals and priorities of CHAI, and to identify and
pursue new opportunities and innovative solutions - Provide
technical expertise to ensure staff are appropriately trained, utilized,
and supported as needed for diagnostic activities. - Represent
CHAI to key program-related external constituencies and cultivate
long-term relationships with strategic partners, donors and governments - Identify
potential opportunities to leverage the best of CHAI’s assets and build
and manage partnerships and alliances to advance and refine policy,
advocacy, and financing strategies. - Serve
as a lead advisor on CHAI research and ethics policies – including study
design review, protocol and analysis review, and other technical/clinical
developments. - Perform
other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
- PhD,
MD, MD/MPH with specialization preferred in global health, infectious
diseases, clinical immunology, virology, or other related field - Minimum
10 years of industry experience in research and international health with
proven ability to design and implement scientific programs and marshal
evidence for policy (i.e. working directly with partners and regulators) - Extensive
expertise in clinical diagnostics and the implementation of diagnostic
tests within public health programs - Robust
knowledge of scientific research, including the ability to assess risks
and tailor research plans, while determining appropriate safety and
efficacy endpoints. - Breadth
and depth of knowledge of global health landscape - Experience
managing key relationships with global partners, country-governments, and
an understanding of the complexities of in-country implementation - Proven
program management skills, based on at least five years of experience in
strategic, operational, and financial management of complex,
multi-stakeholder programs/projects - Strong
communication (written and oral) skills, including the ability to
communicative effectively with people of varied professional and cultural
backgrounds. - Strong
presentation skills and the ability to present/chair sessions at external
scientific advisory or programmatic meetings. - Entrepreneurial
mindset, including ability to work independently, self-motivate, and
propose and implement new initiatives - Proven
ability to eff ectively manage teams and/or individuals - Ability
to be effective in high-pressure situations, handle multiple tasks
simultaneously, and set priorities Strong desire to work in a fast-paced,
limited-structure, high-pressure, multicultural environment - Exceptional
diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate
effectively and build durable relationships with people of varied
professional and cultural backgrounds - High
level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint
and Word - This
role involves international travel up to 50%
