Chemonics
seeks a chief of party for a multiyear, USAID-funded health initiative to
assist the Malawi government. This activity will be USAID/Malawi’s primary
mechanism for engagement in Malawi’s health sector at the district level, and
will work to improve the health status of Malawians in each target district,
with special focus on the reduction of maternal, newborn, and child morbidity

government’s efforts to improve access to priority health services, improve
quality of priority health services, strengthen district health systems, and
increase community demand for priority services. We are looking for individuals
who have a passion for making a difference in lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities
include:

- Provide
overall project leadership, management, and technical direction - Serve
as key liaison with USAID, the Malawi government, project stakeholders,
and counterparts in the public and private sectors - Manage
and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors - Ensure
that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate - Collaboratively
create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision - Oversee
project work planning, performance management, and strategic
communications
Qualifications:
- Advanced
degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field required - Minimum
10 years of relevant development experience designing, implementing, and
managing USAID or other donor-funded health programs required - Success
in managing health systems strengthening or maternal/child health projects
working at the community level - Experience
working closely with multidisciplinary teams in developing countries - Excellent
written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate a strategic
vision - Knowledge
of appropriate technologies - Experience
in monitoring and evaluation, knowledge sharing - Track
record in building capacity of local partners - Demonstrated
leadership, versatility, and integrity - Experience
as chief of party on a donor-funded project in Malawi or southern Africa
preferred
