Coordinator
Organization: Brock Youth Centre
Location: Cannington – North Durham Region, Ontario
(9-month contract with possibility of extension – 35 hours per week – $22/hr)
The Brock Youth Centre is a non-profit c
harity organization in Brock Township
that uses entrepreneurship as a tool to address issues of employment, community
economic development and personal/social development. The BYC runs
several programs and social enterprises that generate revenue, while providing
services, employment and skill building to youth in the community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• With the Executive Director, supervise and assist youth and social enterprise
operations at the Cool Cow Ice Cream Parlour, BOOST employment enterprise and
training (new), Butter Skateboard Co. (skateboard lessons), art classes and
technology training programs.
• Deliver workshops, presentations and programs to youth under the age of 29
around business plan development with existing curriculums (research,
marketing, feasibility, cashflow, etc.) at Brock, Uxbridge and Scugog high
schools.
• Continue the Business Idea Competition with high school students for March
2017.
• Develop and maintain partnerships in the community with private businesses,
non-profits, community organizations/projects and governments for the purpose
of advancing youth entrepreneurship.
• Maintain statistics, reports and communications with/for program partners and
funders.
• Assist in the development, organizing and marketing of programs and
organization.
• Other duties as needed by the organization such as presentations, update social
media/website, etc.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: Degree, diploma or relevant experience in business, marketing
and/or entrepreneurship.
• Work Experience: Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the
business planning process; experience working with and managing youth and a
business; Experience with community economic development theory and practice;
Experience in community projects and events organizing.
• Special Knowledge and Skills: Ability to supervise youth; Knowledge of social
enterprise and business principles in practice and theory; Excellent
interpersonal, communication and writing skills; Outstanding organizational and
follow-through skills; Strict attention to detail is a must and ability to
multi-task is essential; Valid driving license and access to a car is
essential; Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; Experience in social
media and marketing tools (WordPress is a
bonus).
OTHER DETAILS
• Hours are flexible, based on needs of staff, the organization and youth, but
will include some evenings and weekends (ex. Attend board/committee meetings,
events, enterprise operations, etc.).
• Criminal record check upon hiring and valid drivers licence and insurance for
transporting youth.
• Reports directly to Executive Director and sometimes may report to the Board
of Directors.
• Performance evaluation and salary increase considered after probationary
period (3 months).
