The National Assembly Service Commission announced the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sani-Omolori, acting clerk of the National Assembly, to end the disputes surrounding the tenure of the outgoing clerk.
The new acting clerk, Olatunde Ojo, is an architect from Ilobu, the headquarters of the Irepodun Local Government Area of the State of Osun.
The Commission also announced other positions, including the deputy clerk of the National Assembly, the clerk of the Senate, the clerk of the House of Representatives, the deputy clerk of the Senate, the deputy clerk of the House of Representatives, the Secretaries of Directorate, among others.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its chairman, Ahmed Amshi, the Commission stated that the decision had been taken at the emergency meeting held on Friday, 17 July.
The statement reads in part; “The National Assembly Service Commission at an emergency meeting held today, Friday, July 17, 2020, has approved the appointments of some senior management staff for the service.”
According to the statement, Mohammed Bala is the new acting deputy clerk of the National Assembly, while El-Laden Dauda is the acting clerk of the Senate.
The Commission stated that Patrick Giwa would remain a clerk, the House of Representatives “pending his retirement in November 2020,” while Yusuf Dambata was the new acting secretary of the NASC.
