BACKGROUND
The
Agribusiness Initiative (aBi) Trust is an institution set up by the
governments of Uganda and Denmark to support agribusiness initiatives in the
country. In particular it is to support the private sector to increase their
contribution to the agricultural sector by increasing productivity and
competitiveness leading to poverty reduction through economic growth, wealth,
and employment creation.
The
vision of aBi Trust is of “competitive private sector led agriculture in
Uganda” with the mission to “promote private sector driven agribusiness
development to enhance wealth creation in the country”. aBi Trust implements
its interventions through partners.
The
aBi Trust achieves its mission and vision through interrelated
sub-components. 
The subcomponents are:
  1. Value chain
    development leading to improved performance efficiency of actors and
    value chains (with focus on value chain actors and non-financial service
    providers) and including trade-related Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS)
    and Quality Management Systems (QMS) (with focus on value chain and
    specific service providers).
  2. Financial
    Services development leading to expansion of financial services by
    supporting agribusiness in order to increased availability and use of
    financial services.
  3. Gender for
    Growth leading to gender equality integra­tion and mainstreaming in all
    aBi activities.
VACANCY
FOR THE POSITION OF FINANCE OFFICER (1)
PURPOSE
OF THE JOB
  • To support the
    Finance function of aBi Trust in providing the technical guidance and
    support to management, in accounting and financial management.
  • The Finance
    Officer will report to the Finance Manager.
KEY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Review
    accountabilities submitted by the partners to ensure compliance with the
    grant agreements and the financial management guidelines.
  2. Prepare
    performance reports on various partners in respect of budget, actual and
    outstanding commit­ments.
  3. Provide first
    line support to our partners in regards to training on financial aspects
    of their projects
  4. Assist in
    preparing management and statutory accounts for the organization.
  5. Preparation
    and entry of accrual journals.
  6. Assist with
    the external and internal audit exercises.
QUALIFICATION
  1. A bachelor’s
    degree in commerce, business adminis­tration, business studies or
    related areas.
  2. Qualification
    in professional course i.e ACCA or CPA.
  3. Minimum of 4
    years work experience in finance and accounting and or auditing.
  4. Exposure in
    Grants management in a development agency is an added advantage.
  5. Good
    communication and presentation skills.
  6. 6 Good report
    writing skills.
