Position
Summary

  • Plan,
    prepare and deliver quality and effective literacy programs, which are in
    tune with the College pedagogy, to produce improvements in student
    literacy outcome
  • Mentor
    and support staff to improve the delivery of literacy strategies in their
    classrooms
  • Communicate
    effectively with staff and Heads of College
  • Meet
    the diverse needs and learning styles of students

Responsibilities

  • Identifying
    the needs of classroom teachers and students through the use of data
  • Helping
    teachers to interpret, discuss and choose strategies to meet student needs
  • Modelling
    lessons, observing classroom instruction and coaching teachers
  • Leading
    professional learning communities in Year level groupings
  • Targeting
    relevant professional development for staff
  • Maintaining
    and improving literacy resources
  • Tracking
    progress of literacy reforms, providing teachers with current research
    & assessment data to inform teaching
  • Improving
    oral language outcomes Maintaining resources, equipment and the
    physical environment to the highest standards and placing student safety
    as paramount in day to day operation
  • Complying with
    school procedures, policies and practices, including WHS 

Selection
criteria

  • Demonstrated
    empathy with Christian faith and ideals, with a proven reputation for
    integrity 
  • Demonstrated
    experience as a Literacy Coach, including analysing and interpreting data
  • Knowledge
    and proven ability to be a model practitioner, using high yield strategies
    to improve student outcomes
  • Demonstrated
    ability to communicate effectively to families, students and colleagues
    including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills
  • Basic
    understanding of workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity
    and anti-discriminatory practices and behaviour as applies in an
    Independent Christian school workplace environment
