Main purpose of job:
Leadership
of the teams responsible for provision of all Corporate Services/Facilities to
the British Government in Rwandan and Burundi.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be
expected to achieve?:
The
UK operates a High Commission headquarters in Kigali and a smaller Liaison
Office in Bujumbura.  There are around 20 residential properties for
ex-patriot staff, a fleet of vehicles and significant IT, finance, logistic,
and physical security operations. 
As
Corporate Services Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring the efficient delivery of
    high-quality services in all the areas above. 
  • Identifying UK government service
    standards, and your customers’ needs.  Your performance will be
    measured against these by senior managers monthly. 
  • Setting clear performance standards
    for your team, and identify where to use contractors. 
  • Conducting procurement exercises that
    meet UK government procedures for value and transparency. 
  • Long-term planning to ensure the
    consistent provision of corporate services during periods of high
    demand.  This will include financial and team-planning. 
  • Line managing the leaders of five
    smaller teams, covering the different services.  You will have a
    crucial role in setting the tone and direction for corporate services, and
    in supporting senior managers in the running of the High Commission’s
    operations.
Resources managed
Line
manager for 3x B3 (L), 2x A2 (L); Counter-signing officer for four staff;
significant responsibility for finance and contracts.
Competences required:
Delivering
a Quality Service; Delivering Value for Money; Making Effective Decisions;
Leading and Communicating.
Other skills / experience / qualifications:
  • Managing contracts; line-managing
    people;
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years’ management experience
  • Experience of corporate
    services/facilities management, procurement, contract negotiation, financial,
    project or risk management is desirable
  • Ideally experience of responsible for
    a team providing services
  • Read, write and speak in English.
