Job
Opportunity: Data Systems Associate
Gardens for Health is seeking a
dynamic and motivated individual to take primary responsibility for our complex
and evolving data collection system.
Who We Are
We are a growing non-profit
organization whose innovative approach works to bridge the gap between health
and agriculture. We are based in Rwanda, with an office in Boston, and our core
program works to integrate agricultural support and comprehensive health
education into the clinical treatment of malnutrition. We currently work in
partnership with 18 health centers in two districts of Rwanda. This year, we
are working directly with 2,160 families – providing them with the seeds,
knowledge, and support, to prevent and overcome malnutrition.
We also work to support the
Government of Rwanda’s implementation of District Plans to Eliminate
Malnutrition, to strengthen systems to prevent malnutrition at the community
level, and to advocate for policies and programs that work to integrate
agriculture into the treatment of malnutrition. Through our partnerships
initiative, we are also sharing our model and methodology with organizations in
Uganda and Burundi, who are interested in learning from and adapting our
approach.
As we grow our impact, our work
is grounded in collaboration with, and a commitment to, the families and
communities with whom we partner. Our head office in Rwanda is based on a farm,
and everyday nearly 100 people come together to share a meal that reflects our
commitment to growing and eating healthy food.
Our Opportunity for You
Gardens for Health International
believes in having reliable, comprehensive data be at the center of our
decision-making processes, informing what we do and how we do it to ensure that
we have the greatest impact possible on the nutrition and well-being of the
families we work with.
Gardens for Health has invested
in creating a robust Monitoring & Evaluation team. We have thirty-six
Monitoring & Evaluation Agents who conduct surveys and track program
activities, and five management staff at the Kigali headquarters who oversee
data collection, analysis, and reporting. In 2012, Gardens for Health partnered
with Vera Solutions, a company that provides data-focused technical solutions
to social impact organizations, to create a comprehensive, custom Force.com (
Salesforce) database system. This Force.com application enables the
organization to track and report on program activities and organizational
impact through child health measurements, training attendance, agriculture
input requests, and more.
Over the past two years, our
organization has grown five-fold. As we’ve expanded, we’ve recognized the need
to have a Data Systems Associate dedicated to maintaining and updating our
