The
program ‘Economy and Employment Promotion’ (Eco-Emploi) is part of the priority
area ‘Sustainable Economic Development’ of the Rwandan-German Development
Cooperation. With the objective, that ‘selected public and private actors have
implemented employment-generating measures’ and therewith contributing
significantly to job generation in Rwanda, the program is based on an
integrated approach of Private Sector Development, Technical & Vocational
Education & Training (TVET) Skills Development and Labour Market
interventions in the selected economic sectors ICT, Wood, Tourism, E-Commerce
and Creative Industries.
GIZ
is searching a candidate for the position of Junior Tourism Expert who
will be based at Regional Office in Rubavu District, Western Province, for
the Program of Economy and Employment Promotion (Eco-Emploi).
Duties
and Responsibilities
The
Junior Tourism Expert under supervision of the Head of Eco- Emploi Rubavu
Regional Office is responsible for:
  • Supporting
    Eco Emploi partners from the Kivu Belt region in the area of tourism
    product development;
  • Supporting
    in the organization of meetings and workshops with tourism stakeholders in
    the Kivu Belt Region;
  • Preparation
    of documents and concepts upon request
The
Junior Tourism Expert will perform the following tasks:
  • Support
    in identifying opportunities for tourism products and tourist activities
    in the Kivu Belt region and make relevant linkages with the stakeholders;
  • Support
    the implementation of activities on tourism product development and
    upgrading according to Eco Emploi operational plan;
  • Ensure
    the follow up with Eco Emploi partners in the implementation of tourism
    related interventions;
  • Identify
    employment opportunities for People with Disability in the tourism sector
  • Preparation
    of tourism related meetings and workshops and ensure the mobilization of
    the partners;
  • Identify
    capacity development needs of Eco Emploi partners in the tourism sector
  • Ensure
    the documentation of different tourism activities, meetings and workshops;
  • Support
    in the preparation of concepts for tourism activities;
  • Supporting
    to the monitoring and evaluation of tourism interventions in collaboration
    with Eco Emploi M&E Team
Required
qualifications
A
Bachelor’s degree in the area of tourism and hospitality management and/ or
Business Management (with experience in tourism)
Work
experience and competencies
  • At
    least 3 years’ professional experience in the area of tourism development
    or in the business of tourism and hospitality;
  • Very
    good knowledge of the Rwandan Economy and Private Sector
  • Very
    good knowledge of tourism operations globally and specifically in the
    Rwandan context;
  • Fluent
    written and oral knowledge of English and Kinyarwanda, knowledge of French
    will be an asset
  • Strong
    communication skills, and facility in document writing
  • Creative,
    flexible, well organized and highly motivated with intercultural skills to
    work in an international team.
