Education is seeking District Officers for the proposed “Improved adolescent
reproductive health behaviours” Project in Brong Ahafo Region
.
This
project seeks to achieve behaviour change amongst young people, both male and
female, and is critical to achieving the overall goal of “Improved maternal
health (MDG5) and adolescent reproductive health nationally and in focal
regions”
.
This
project aims at giving adolescents more knowledge of and access to ASRH
services to help them prepare and protect themselves against unwanted
pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and delay onset of sexual activity.
The
impact of the grant will directly contribute towards reducing maternal
mortality and adolescent birth rates
in the region. The position is based
in any of the eight selected districts in Brong Ahafo with frequent travel to
various communities and is contingent upon funding.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee
    district and sub-district level activities including all community
    interventions
  • Coordinate
    the organization of community entry
  • Support
    the planning and implementation of all component-related training
    workshops, meetings and associated activities
  • Coordinate
    activities of field officers and volunteers for the effective planning,
    implementation and resourcing of  project activities
  • Meet
    regularly with district team members to assess and monitor project
    implementation and  needs of the communities
  • Assist
    with the planning and facilitation of  training workshops at the
    community level
  • Provide
    supportive monitoring to all intervention sites through visits and on-site
    monitoring
  • Prepare
    and submit monthly reports on all field activities and ensure that all
    field reporting deadlines are met
  • Liaise
    with other program partners, and relevant stakeholders such as District
    health Directorate, District Assemblies, District Education staff, etc, to
    ensure collaboration and effective partnership
  • Collaborate
    with WE/Ghana staff to plan, monitor and evaluate project activities.
  • Assist
    in preparation and tracking of project budget and expenditures
  • Perform
    other duties as assigned.
Required
Skills or Experience
  • A
    first degree in public health or related field.
  • Minimum
    of 3-5 years proven experience implementing Adolescent Sexual and
    Reproductive Health projects
  • Experience
    in Community Engagement.
  • Demonstrated
    ability to work with stakeholders in government and other relevant
    partners at the regional and sub district levels.
  • In-depth
    knowledge of Ghana’s district health system, especially agencies and
    interventions relating to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health.
  • Effective
    communication skills, both orally and in writing to make formal and
    informal presentations and to compose professional and analytic reports
    and program documents.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal and team work skills
  • Proficiency
    in at least one local language of the area
  • Ability
    to ride a motor bikes
