REGISTERED NURSE (RN)
1 FT Permanent
The Registered Nurse (RN) will be accountable to the Director of Care in providing the highest standard of palliative, end-of-life care to our residential guests and their families. Shifts are 12 hours – 4 on (2 day, 2 night), 4 off. The RN will work collaboratively with all interdisciplinary team members while understanding the inherent demands of the specialty of palliative and end-of-life nursing and be flexible to engage in all required tasks associated with ‘total care’ of the person. The RN will have specialty training in pain and symptom management and understands the application of the Model to Guide Hospice Palliative Care.
Education and experience
* Graduate of an approved school of nursing: BScN an asset
* CNA certification (CHPCN) in hospice palliative care, or commitment
to achieve designation within a year
* CAPCE training an asset
* Proof of current registration and status with the College of Nurses of
Ontario
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
* Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
* Interpersonal skills and ability to work with residents and their families
* Minimum of five (5) years practice in dedicated palliative and end-of
life care
* Leadership experience within an interdisciplinary team model would
be an asset
* Experience working with volunteers preferable.
