Job Overview:
UrbanTrans manages various planning, outreach and marketing efforts company wide. The successful senior marketing specialist candidate will work on company-wide projects with a focus on Canada, including ongoing strategic communications, marketing and outreach for a variety of clients, local businesses and organizations. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and creating marketing materials, web sites and campaigns that promote alternative modes of transportation, basic market research (including focus groups and surveys) and customized marketing materials that achieve measurable results
• Understanding and applying social marketing in order to creatively assist campaigns and outreach efforts
• Developing and implementing strategic media relations plans to support company objectives and client projects and events, including managing relationships with journalists and media outlets in targeted markets
• Writing, editing and distributing e-newsletters, fact sheets and media kits
• Web site management and updates
• Coordinating outreach and education opportunities, such as workshops, presentations and employer meetings
• Understanding and communicating program services and marketing those services to multiple audiences, from individuals to executives
• Maintaining and strengthening relationships with key clients, employer partners
• Understanding and promoting transportation incentive programs
• Database management, invoicing and monthly reporting

Education and Work Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree –Marketing or Communications (or related field)
• Strong understanding of social marketing (not social media) principles and techniques
• 3 or more years of full-time professional experience, related to communications, social marketing, public relations, and/or community outreach.
• Experience and understanding in Planning, Urban Policy, and Transportation is desirable
• Direct experience that is equivalent to the knowledge and skills required may be substituted for educational experience.
• An advanced degree in marketing or communications (or other appropriate area) is highly desirable.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Must have strong computer skills including knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, database management and spreadsheet development. Must possess excellent communication skills, customer service skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must be able to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required. Knowledge of commuter transportation industry is highly desirable.

• A valid Driver’s License
