Location: Newmarket, Ontario
We are currently seeking applicants for a licensed Structural/Civil Engineer to perform engineering assessments of potential solar installation sites to determine weight load and structural suitability. The employee will make recommendations for reinforcement plans, prepare drawings and make building permit applications. Renewable Watts has offices in Newmarket and Woodstock, Ontario. The successful candidate will perform work in South-Western Ontario and the GTA out of the Newmarket office.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Typical duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Requesting and reviewing drawings from building departments;
• Performing site inspections, load calculations, roof and truss drawings. Primarily for residential buildings;
• Design specifications for reinforcing if required. Comparison of alternate solutions;
• Preparing stamped drawings and documentation for building permits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects;
• Ability to communicate with staff, sub-trades, technical resources and clients;
• Ability to work in a schedule-driven environment to meet deadlines, and manage workload;
• Driving to job sites on a daily basis. Some outdoors work.
SKILLS AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSING
• Must hold a valid Professional Engineering Certification (Ontario);
• Solar installation experience is an asset;
• Must hold a valid Canadian driver’s license with a good driving record;
• Preferred if employee has their own vehicle. Mileage will be reimbursed;
• Must be able to work periodic overtime with flexible hours to handle project demands.
• Only candidates currently living in Ontario/GTA area will be considered.
COMPENSATION
• Salary: $50-$60,000/annum based on qualifications and experience.
START DATE
• Immediate.
