Avalon Farm is a beautiful place; 26 acres of meadows, crops, and
forests. We have a large organic garden, organic blueberries,
chickens, horses, a cat, dog and lots of deer and wildlife in the back
fields. We are across from Sproat Lake, 10 minutes past Port Alberni,
on the way to Tofino/Long Beach.
Accommodation in your
own room(s), and bathroom; in a downstairs suite
in our house, meals provided, or can be cooked in your own space. We
also have a cabin and very comfortable Trailer. We use mainly fresh
garden veggies, seafood, and organic local farm products. One or two
people welcome.
Jobs include gardening, tending blueberries and general farm
maintenance. Most of our projects are from April to September.
We are looking for someone who would like to be involved with the farm
long term, and would like to eventually take on much of the work and
income from our Certified Organic Blueberries. We would be interested
in an Intern or Apprentice type arrangement, that would see the person
or persons(!) staying either on farm or nearby to continue with us
after initial learning period. We also have additional land that could
be farmed by our apprentices.
The farm is in a beautiful setting, connected to miles of trails,
across from a lake for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, etc. and close to
the sea for additional excursions.
