JOB TITLE: Producer, Documentary
REPORTS TO: Director of Factual Programming
OVERVIEW: VICE Media is seeking a self-starting,
technically adept and editorially smart documentary Producer to join our
production team, based out of our Toronto office. The Producer will work
closely with the office production team while overseeing all production needs
on location. The right candidate will have experience working on documentary
style factual programming.
ROLES &
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and write all content for a documentary
programme - Manage the production team in the office and on
location, while ensuring solid communication is maintained - Prepare interviews and filming opportunities for the
shoot and act as the liaison between the on-screen talent and the crew - Under strict deadlines, arrange shooting locations and
produce all content - Oversee all production operations outside the office
while on set in remote locations - Responsible for disseminating information to all crew
and staff? - Responsible for overseeing the safety and security of
crew and staff in the field - As required, oversee edit of footage in line with VICE
style - Any additional duties as directed by immediate
supervisor or designee
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University/College degree in Film and Arts or a related
media or humanities field required. - 3+ to 5 years of experience in Producer/Field Producer
role at a well regarded network or cable network or digital production
company (or equivalent)? - Ability to work flexible hours and manage team meetings
- Ability to work across time zones and communicate
internationally and inter-culturally - Strong journalistic and professional ethics?
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of MAC computer systems and programs
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Ability to deal with quickly changing priorities
- Must be detailed orientated and highly organized
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally as
required - Interest in and knowledge of geopolitics and national
security issues required - Experience working in hostile environments an asset
- Facility in a second or third language an asset
