bicycle repair facility, Bikechain has grown to become the centre of the
bicycling community at U of T. Bikechain operates a free bicycle lending
program for students, a free Do It Yourself (DIY) educational repair shop, and
bicycle-related seminars and events. Bikechain is a non-profit corporation
whose mandate is to promote the use of bicycles as a form of sustainable
transportation, and to provide cycling and bike repair education.

Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of
Bikechain’s repair shop and bicycle lending program. The Shop Manager reports
to the Executive Director.

and facilitating the delivery of the bike lending program and maintenance

outreach tool kits - Planning
and managing other programming as directed by the executive director
Minimum
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Excellent
organization skills and ability to multi-task are essential - Strong
bicycle mechanical skills, experience working as a mechanic - Experience
teaching and facilitating; excellent communication skills - Experience
managing or supervising volunteers and staff - Comfortable
using all tools found in a bike shop, including power tools and
tapping/threading tools - Experience
placing orders and managing inventory in a bike shop - Experience
working within budgets - Customer
service experience
Assets,

- Post-secondary
education in community development, environmental studies, or other
relevant discipline, or equivalent experience - Experience
with hiring staff, and knowledge of human resources legislation and best
practices - Experience
working with campus groups, nonprofit, or environmental organizations - Experience
coordinating events - Knowledge
of Quickbooks accounting software

is $15/hour - Contract
is for one year with possibility of renewal - Workweek
is 30 hours/week January through April, and 37.5 hours/week May through
December - Includes
some evening and occasional weekend hours
