POSITION
SUMMARY
SUMMARY
The
Outdoor Education Department provides progressive and educational outdoor
experiences to thousands of guests each winter. Reporting to the Outdoor
Education Manager, the Supervisors are responsible for overseeing and
supervising a team of approximately 20 Outdoor Education Snowshoe Guides in the
successful delivery of education and recreation programs, and snowshoe rental
operations.

KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate
the delivery of a variety of recreation and educational snowshoe programs:
- Guide
interpretive programs - Ensure
excellent customer service and satisfaction - Be
an effective communication link between management, guide staff, and
other departments - Ensure
the snowshoe trails are safe for clients and staff through trail marking
and maintenance - Assist
in the development of programs, props and material for new programs - Staff
supervision and support: - Provide
guidance and leadership to snowshoe guides delivering education and
recreation programs - Maintain
a high level of professionalism displaying a strong work ethic at all
times - Conduct
daily pre and post program staff meetings - Encourage
continued learning and growth for snowshoe guides - Assist
in the planning and delivery of staff training - Aiding
in emergency protocol - Oversee
all aspects of snowshoe rentals and cash handling:
- Maintain
an inventory of equipment and supplies - Ensure
a clean and safe work environment - Ensure
efficient and high quality customer service - Improve
procedures, products and programs: - Demonstrate
the department’s Core Values and Mission Statement - Develop
new program ideas/content or updates to existing programs - Refine
existing procedures and suggest areas for improvement - Perform
additional duties as required
REQUIRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree/diploma
in outdoor recreation/education, biology, environmental science, or
acceptable equivalent training and experience - Minimum
1 year supervisory experience - Minimum
2 years experience teaching or leading groups of children or adults - Winter
recreation experience - Current
first aid certification, or be willing to obtain at own cost - Program
development experience with a foundation in interpretive and experiential
education for school and public groups - Knowledge
of local natural history

requires the ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time - Job
requires ability to work in a variety of winter weather conditions - Must
be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and/or early
mornings, late evenings and over the holiday season - Must
be willing to travel up and down a mountain road in winter conditions - Reliable
transportation is an asset
