Position: Permaculture farm help /
couple
Type:
work-stay/volunteer with accom., meals, more (see below)
Organization:
Mossy Banks Farm
Location:
Duncan, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Want some hands-on
experience at farming? I am looking for an individual or couple interested in
working on a mixed, organic, Permaculture-based farm for the winter, and
possibly longer. Must be in
terested in working with animals, vegetable gardens
and food forests. Also, an interest in maple tree tapping and syrup making
would be useful, as we tap up to 20 trees in the winter and make our own syrup.
Some building skills a plus but not required. Must be willing to work hard but
also ready to learn how much fun farming can be. Must be a team player yet able
to work independently. Extensive library with farming, gardening and
Permaculture books available to workers.
Accommodations
include your own room, shared bathroom and shared kitchen with many communal
meals. 36 hours a week required until end of November, then fewer hours during
quiet season, until February when seeding and garden prep begin. One to two
days off a week to be negotiated to meet everyone’s needs. Farm is close to
Duncan, an agricultural town in the heart of Vancouver Island, with hiking
areas nearby.
