programs inspire park visitors to develop closer connections with nature in

Position Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic educator and nature lover to teach
full-time, Monday to Friday, for our nature based summer camp this July and
August.

Responsibilities:
• Deliver high quality nature education programs to children age 4-12,
including hikes, games, songs, and crafts
• Work with other Nature Interpreters to create and amend programming
• Train and engage volunteers in programming
• Communicate with parents at the beginning and end of the day
• Responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness and neatness of the Nature Centre
including caring for Nature Centre pets
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:
• Graduate or current student of a University or College program dealing with
environmental/natural science, outdoor recreation, or education
• Minimum 2 years experience working with children in educational/recreational
programs, preferably outdoors
• Possesses natural history skills and knowledge of local ecology and
restoration
• Ability to work with children, and able to provide a positive learning
experience for participants of all ages
• Experience with behavioural management and conflict resolution
• Strong teamwork skills as well as an ability to work on independent projects
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Creative and enthusiastic
• Well-developed oral and written communication and interpretive skills
• Current CPR and First Aid certificates or willingness to acquire
• Current police reference check required

This is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position. As such, all applicants must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and
intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection
Act2; and,
• be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial
or territorial legislation and regulations.

Hours: F/T 35-37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Wage per Hour: $11.25/hour

Duration of Contract: June 27-September 2, 2016
