The Recent Visit To Adani’s Project Sites

Gautam Adani has recently expressed his gratitude to the Bhutan King and Prime Minister for visiting their renewable energy park at Khavda and the flagship port at Mundra. He has appreciated the country’s dedication towards taking up eco-friendly initiatives. Gautam Adani has also expressed his enthusiasm for future collaborations with Bhutan. This would lead to the promotion of sustainability in Bhutan and pave the path for a cleaner planet. It will also help the Adani Group extend its horizons further and diversify its portfolio.

The Main Recent For The Visit

The main reason behind the PM and the King’s visit to Adani Group’s infrastructural projects was to look for opportunities for potential collaboration with the conglomerate in different business sectors. The Mundra Port is the largest commercial port of India while the Khavda renewable energy park is the world’s largest renewable energy park which is still in its development phase. These two are the two of the most prestigious projects of the Adani Group. These projects have attracted the interest of countries from all across the world. They have also encouraged countries like Bhutan to take up similar initiatives in their countries as well.

Bhutan aims to leverage the conglomerate’s expertise in infrastructure projects to bring about development in the country. Some of the key areas of interest that were discussed during the visit were hydropower, urban development, transmission lines, renewable energy, and green hydrogen. The Adani Group has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Druk Green Park Company (DGPC) for the 570 MW hydropower projects. The DGPC officials have also joined the King during his visit to the various sites of the Adani Group.

Adani’s Mundra and Khavda Projects

The Mundra Port is the flagship port of the Adani Group. The Gautam Adani-led business group has completely transformed Mundra from a wasteland into one of the leading industrial hubs. This showcases the conglomerate’s capacity to handle large-scale projects. The port operations have been streamlined to an extraordinary extent. The Mundra port is also a crucial port for international maritime trade activities. It harbours some of the largest vessels from all across the world. It also has major contributions towards increasing our cargo capacity.

The Khavda renewable energy park is another striking project of the Adani Group. This renewable energy park is one of the major contributors to our country’s green energy capacity. The park already has a 2 GW operational capacity. The capacity is going to reach 30 GW upon its successful completion. The project is built across 538 sq km of land. It is so big that it is visible even from space. In fact, it is five times the size of Paris. This makes it one of the most prestigious projects of the Adani Group.

The Prospect Of Hydropower Projects in Bhutan

Hydropower is very crucial for Bhutan’s economy. It has a significant contribution to its GDP and export revenue. Bhutan exports a huge portion of its electricity to India. This helps in meeting the country’s energy demands. Bhutan’s hydropower potential is around 30 GW, out of which around 24 GW is economically viable. India has been supporting Bhutan in its export activities since 1960. This has led to potential economic growth. With Adani Group’s intervention, the country’s renewable energy capacity can increase further.

Gautam Adani has also been supporting sustainable development in neighbouring countries. It has recently signed a 20-year contract with Sri Lanka to build a wind power station. This is the largest foreign direct investment and power project in Sri Lanka’s history. The Adani Group has also started exporting power to Bangladesh from its 1,600 MW Godda power plant in Jharkhand. The Adani Godda project is the first transnational power project.

Conclusion

Currently, the discussion between the Adani Group and Bhutan’s delegation is ongoing. Once the plan is finalized, we will get to witness the Adani Group take up sustainable development in Bhutan. This will not only bring about regional growth but will also strengthen ties between the two neighbouring countries.
