WomenCraft National Director Job Vacancy in Ngara, Tanzania

WomenCraft Social Enterprise is seeking a dynamic
and highly motivated Director who will provide guidance to its staff and
artisans and will continue to strengthen the operations of the enterprise. This
position is open to Tanzanian/East Africans only.

WomenCraft’s Mission
WomenCraft is a community driven social enterprise
that connects talented rural East African artisans with regional and
international fair-trade markets. WomenCraft’s members create high-quality
handcrafted products that preserve local traditions and incorporate
environmentally-sustainable local materials. WomenCraft pays its members fair
wages and uses its profits to provide services to its members, their families
and their communities. Members also build business acumen and gain practical
life skills so that they can eventually take ownership of the enterprise.
Primary Responsibilities:
1) Plan and Execute WomenCraft Initiatives
  • Establish specific action plans for projects
    outlined in the Work Plan;
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are
    being followed by all staff;
  • Develop, track and monitor project objectives
    and deliverables as outlined in the Work Plan;
  • Work in partnership with Artisan Advisory
    Council to set-up a realistic timeline and action plan for artisan
    ownership and profit sharing;
  • Coordinate with Advisory Board and consultants
    to acquire feedback and advice and to carry out product development,
    strategic planning, marketing, training and program evaluation efforts, as
    needed.
2) Manage Staff and Members
  • Manage and support artisan leaders and
    carefully regulate the addition of new artisan members;
  • Reinforce human resources systems according to
    Staff Policy and Procedure Manual;
  • Manage WomenCraft’s daily operations by
    supervising all national staff and overseeing international staff and
    interns/volunteers;
3) Manage Enterprise Operations
  • Oversee the development of new products,
    adhering to product design Standard Operating Procedures to ensure high
    standards are met in the introduction of new product designs;
  • Oversee order fulfillment process and ensure
    high standards are being met in: initial order intake, order processing,
    packaging, shipping and customer receipt;
  • Oversee the implementation, management, and
    tracking of budgets, working closely with the accountant to produce timely
    quarterly reports, monitor cash flows and ensure proper financial
    management;
4) Build and Extend Socio-Economic Partnerships and
Business Relations
  • Build relationships with local service
    providers who can deliver social services to WomenCraft’s members and
    their families, including education, life skills and health care;
  • Represent WomenCraft to external audiences and
    donor(s).
Qualifications:
  • Tanzanian/East African Nationals only eligible
    to apply;
  • Able to commit to living in Ngara – a rural
    area of Tanzania – for at least 3 years;
  • A creative self-starter with strong
    management, leadership and training skills;
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili; some
    Kihangaza, Kirundi and Kinyarwanda preferred;
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems and
    Microsoft Office suite;
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving
    skills;
  • Ability to lead and train a multi-cultural and
    diverse team;
  • Excellent written and oral communication
    skills;
  • Experience with project planning,
    administration and management;
  • Experience in community outreach and women’s
    socio-economic development;
  • Experience with managing budgets;
  • Ability to conceive big ideas while still
    focusing on the details necessary for their successful implementation.
Job Length and Location: This is a full-time
position based in Ngara district, Kagera region, Tanzania, East Africa. The
contract length is one-year, renewable. This position reports to WomenCraft’s
Advisory Board.
Compensation: Take home pay of 450,000 Tsh per
month, plus benefits
