Type: full-time, 4-5 month internship with room, board, stipend, education, mentoring

Location: Grafton, Northumberland County, Ontario
From June/July to the end of October.
No experience is necessary…a desire to be a farmer is.
This is an apprenticeship position where your labour is exchanged for room and board, a stipend, education, mentoring and the chance to further your small farm knowledge. Activities for all interns may include, but are not limited to: Seedling production, bed preparation, cultivation/weeding, transplanting, pest management, irrigation, harvesting, application of soil amendments, seeding of cover crops, safe use of equipment, lawn maintenance, maintaining paths through the forest, perennial bed maintenance, tillage, compost incorporation, writing field reports, managing The Mall on weekends, excellent customer service, maintenance and cleaning of tools, keeping the farm and accommodation areas clean and tidy, attending farmers markets and CSA pick-up locations, proper care for all animals, aid in the construction of out buildings.
Activities will also include research, required reading, crop production planning.
Each intern is required to model good work ethics, standards and punctuality with good morale and team spirit.
We are part of the CRAFT Kawartha node http://www.craftontario.ca/regions/craft-kawartha/ as well as members of Canadian Organic Growers and Ecological Farmers of Ontario.
You will not be a farmer at the end of 6 months but you will be well on your way, with a good base of knowledge. You will also get a feel for the farm lifestyle to help you determine your future goals.
