Water Missions

safe water solutions. The Project Engineer position contributes to the success
of the Uganda Country Program by providing cost effective designs for
village-sized piped water schemes. The person in this position must be a strong
Christian and must feel a clear calling from
God and a heartfelt passion for
our mission.

Under the direction
of the Senior Engineer, the Project Engineer is responsible for performing
engineering tasks within the Country Program following established standards
and procedures. This position requires that the person resides near Jinja (or
moves near Jinja), where the office is located. This position requires travel
to remote locations within Uganda or surrounding countries to carry out
assessments, inspections or training.
Key Specific Duties
and Responsibilities
• Perform
engineering tasks including water hydraulic design calculations, and
development of plans, specifications, and drawings
• Conduct field
inspections and site assessments
• Report on various
aspects of work as it relates to assessment, design, implementation, or
follow-up
• Assemble required
permits and reports for government agencies
•Perform all other
duties as requested under the direction of the Senior Engineer
Minimum Education
and Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
in Engineering-Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical are preferred
• 2+ years of
experience in water and/or wastewater engineering-consulting engineering with
specific design experience is preferred
• Drivers license
• Advanced skills
with computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, EPANET, Google
Earth and AutoCAD
• Excellent verbal
and written communications skills (English & Luo/Luganda/Lusoga)
• Excellent
analytical skills, process design skills and project planning skills
