VSO is committed to improving the skills of
teachers in the developing world to ensure education for all children by 2015.
To help us meet this aim, we urgently need primary teachers to fill a range of
placements designed to increase retention, participation and access to quality
inclusive education by promoting teaching capacity, developing skill levels and
encouraging inclusive teaching methods.   Working in countries such
as Cameroon, Ethiopia, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan, the placements
involve developing the skills and confidence of teachers who have had very
little formal training. You will be encouraging teachers to make the most of
their resources, developing child-centred learning materials and enabling them
to transform classrooms into vibrant learning environments.
What will the role involve:
We are seeking Primary Education Teacher Trainers
to support our work in helping to increase access to quality inclusive education
by promoting teaching capacity and skill levels and encouraging inclusive
teaching methods that will increase participation and retention. 
Duties could
include:
·  Working alongside classroom teachers
to help develop inclusive interactive approaches through modelling, co-teaching
and observation
·  Identifying the needs of teachers and
developing training methods to promote child friendly and inclusive learning
·  Facilitating training for teachers,
particularly in developing effective low-cost resources
·  Supporting resource manages and school
leaders to identify teachers’ strengths and areas for development through
classroom observation
Skills, qualifications and experience required:
You’ll need to have a Bachelor Degree with a PGCE
or a Bachelors Degree in Education with at least three years teaching
experience (preferably at primary school level). You’ll have experience of
active learning, child-centred teaching and continuous assessment. Experienced
in classroom observation, you’ll have great interpersonal skills combined with
a flexible and adaptable attitude. Experience of working in CPD is highly
desirable. Self-motivated and well-organised, you will need to be culturally
sensitive with strong communication skills and the confidence to create positive
relationships in diverse cultures and working environments.

this rewarding opportunity. We’ll ask you to commit from 12 to 24 months to
make a sustainable contribution to our development goals. In return, we’ll give
you comprehensive financial, personal and professional support.  We’ll
provide you with extensive training before your placement, and our financial
package includes a local living allowance, return flights, accommodation,
insurance and more. When you return to your home country, we’ll support you to
resettle.
