The Trans Canada Trail / Sentier Transcanadien (TCT/STC) when
complete, will be the world’s longest and grandest recreational trail.
It is currently used by millions of Canadians and international
visitors to experience our country’s legendary w
ilderness, cycle
historic rail trails, explore provincial and territorial capitals,
canoe the routes of early explorers, visit national and provincial
parks and historic sites, commute to and from work, and enjoy the
benefits of safe, healthy active living. By Canada’s 150th anniversary
of Confederation in 2017, the Trail will be fully connected,
stretching over 24,000 kilometres from coast to coast to coast,
linking millions of Canadians and celebrating our natural and cultural
heritage. Today 75% of the Trail is developed.
TRAIL PROJECT COORDINATOR, WESTERN CANADA
One-year contract (with the possibility of renewal)
The Trans Canada Trail is seeking an experienced Trail Project
Coordinator for twelve (12) months to assist in the completion of the
Trans Canada Trail in Canada’s Western Provinces.
Reporting directly to the Trail Development Manager, Western and
Northern Canada, you will assist in the coordination and development
of the TCT in Western Canada in order to achieve Trail connection by
December 2016. Candidates must be located in Alberta or willing to
relocate at their own expense. The successful candidate will work from
a home office, and report directly to the Trail Development Manager,
Western and Northern Canada.
As an outgoing and energetic self-starter, you have experience
building community capacity and initiating relationships with a
variety of groups and individuals. You have critical analytical,
project planning, and management skills and can demonstrate hands-on
experience in those areas. You are a strong negotiator, confident team
player and a highly effective organizer
SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide support to advance Trail connection;
• Work with TCT’s Roadway Implementation Manager to implement the
Roadway Strategy and gain support from community and various levels of
government;
• Monitor the progress of trail projects and inform the Trail
Development Manager of issues;
• Provide assistance to the Trail Development Manager and Provincial
Trail Partners in reviewing, validating and submitting Funding
Applications to TCT;
• On behalf of TCT and Provincial Partners, periodically inspect trail
projects, provide assistance in the completion of TCT funding requests
and identify potential sources of funding;
• Attend Trail events and stakeholder meeting, and conduct Trail
visits as required;
• Work with the TCT’s Signage Officer and governments to implement the
TCT signage program;
