DIVISION: Restoration and Infrastructure

SALARY RANGE: Range 6 $57,837 – $64,665 per year. (40 hour work week)

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
To assist Manager and Project Managers with the implementation and management
of various restoration projects.

KNOWLEDGE:
• 4 years or more of post-secondary education or equivalent in an environmental
science, biology or related program;
• Minimum 3 years of experience related to major tasks;
• Demonstrated knowledge of terrestrial and aquatic ecology, management and
monitoring;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong public relations skills; experience with the media an asset;
• Demonstrated report and proposal writing and analytical skills;
• Strong budget management and cost control skills;
• Excellent computer proficiency with software experience (MS PowerPoint,
Excel, Word, Access, ArcMap);
• Effective and efficient problem solving, multi-tasking and creative thinking;
• Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public;
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and the
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act;
• Valid Ontario driver’s license (Class A or F an asset);
• Standard first aid and CPR an asset.

SUMMARY OF MAJOR TASKS:

Perform the following tasks under general supervision:
• Assist Manager and Project Managers with implementation of a variety of
wetland, forest, stream, and meadow restoration projects.
• Assist with the procurement of materials and services.
• Maintain effective liaison with other agencies, community groups, and the
general public, including stakeholder needs analysis and consultation and
project reporting.
• Assist with project management including project development; plan design;
internal, external and public consultations; permit acquisition; work plan
development; budget preparation; cost control and close out.
• Prepare and format correspondence, project briefs, Authority communications
and reports of a general and technical nature.
• Coordinate and prepare proposals for partnership agreements and
non-traditional sources of funding to assist in achieving mutual objectives.
• Collect and analyze field data to identify and guide wildlife management and
habitat restoration opportunities.
• Oversee the compilation, organization and maintenance of data from various
sources to ensure that it is readily available to the project team.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate the performance of staff.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
