The
Tanzanian Children’s Fund is looking for a mature, detail-oriented and flexible
individual with communications and social media skills to serve as our
Sponsorship and Communications Coordinator at the Rift Valley Children’s
Village (RVCV) in rural Tanzania.

Founded
by India Howell in 2004, RVCV operates in partnership with the Tanzanian
Children’s Fund (TCF) and is a loving and permanent home to 94 children. RVCV
is located in a remote and impoverished village in Karatu District, adjacent to
the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The
Sponsorship & Communications Coordinator is a member of the senior staff at
RVCV, and will be responsible serving as the primary contact for sponsors of
children and students with an aim towards retaining current sponsors and
generating new ones. He/she will also be responsible for creating attractive
and compelling communications materials and keeping social media up to date

Development,
Cultivation and Retention of Sponsors
Cultivation and Retention of Sponsors
- Maintaining
all sponsorship records – donations, renewal dates etc. in Excel and
ensuring records
are synchronized with our Raiser’s Edge database - Creating
and sending renewal letters to sponsors - Corresponding
with sponsors throughout the year - Assisting
children with letters, pictures and Christmas cards for sponsors - Researching
and identifying new sponsors with other Tanzanian and US staff - Maintaining
updated biographies for sponsored children and students
Other
Supporter Cultivation and Stewardship
Supporter Cultivation and Stewardship
- Collaborating
with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that all volunteers at RVCV have
a positive and rewarding volunteer experience - Communicating/connecting
with volunteers at RVCV to explain how they can help and stay connected to
RVCV once they return home
Communications
Materials
Materials
- Creating
and posting social media materials (blog, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,
Flickr) - Creating
attractive and compelling monthly email newsflashes in Spark - Working
with online partners to expand our sponsorship program - Creating
additional electronic and hard copy communications materials as needed in
collaboration with the US Managing Director
Photo
Archivist
Archivist
- Maintaining
an organized and searchable photo database of children, staff, volunteers
and programs - Ensuring
that our Flickr account is up to date and organized - Taking
photos throughout the year to be shared with sponsors and for
communications and fundraising materials - Creating
annual yearbooks and calendars
Qualifications:
- Excellent
communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas in
clear and succinct language; demonstrated excellence in online writing and
editing - Experience
using social media for communication and community engagement - Basic
video/photo editing and graphics creation helpful but not required - Strong
attention to detail; ability to work independently and anticipate next
steps - Ability
to thrive living in a very beautiful but remote and rural setting in
Africa - Candidate
must be easygoing, possess a good sense of humor and be open-minded to
different experiences and cultures. - Bachelor’s
degree required - Strict
minimum commitment of 1 year, 2 years availability preferred
