- 1. About the IRC
The International Rescue Committee (IRC)
is one of the largest humanitarian agencies in the world, providing relief,
rehabilitation and post-conflict reconstruction support to victims of
oppression and violent conflict. IRC has worked for over eight decades and
today operates in 42 countries worldwide. IRC began work in Rwanda
immediately following the 1994 genocide, focusing on emergency and relief
operations. Over the years IRC has helped the government of Rwanda and
community-based organizations rebuild physical, social and political
institutions destroyed during the war. At present, IRC Rwand

Affairs and Nutrition and Governance project funded by the European Union.
The
access to justice project « Enhancement of Justice & Security at local
level », funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is part of the
Governance & Rights program implemented across Rwanda and Burundi. The
project aims at improving human and community security through increased
citizen access to justice and security at community level in Ngoma and Kayonza
Districts of Eastern Province.

IRC Rwanda program in collaboration with the Legal Aid Forum have
developed 6 modules for training of trainers ,meant to be used to train the
Abunzi of Ngoma and Kayonza Districts. Those modules were originally developed
in English language.

order to make those modules user- friendly, the IRC wants to have them in
Kinyarwanda version. The IRC is therefore looking for services of consultant
who can translate the six modules from English into Kinyarwanda.

work

rights module (51pages) - Matrimonial

Recruited consultant is expected to come up with
a well translated version very close to original English version, compliant
with standards legal terms where applicable and, making the Kinyarwanda version
standard and the same time accessible.

- 3. Timeframe:
The selected candidate is expected to complete
the translation within 3 weeks calendar following his/her hiring.

- 4. Qualifications
of the consultant
Degree in Law or over 5 years translating
official legal documents
official legal documents
- Experience
in developing guidebooks, manuals etc ; - Previous
experience in translating training modules - Proof
of having successfully translated documents from English into
Kinyarwanda and from Kinyarwanda into English - Knowledge
and experience in access to justice field - Ability
to simplify legal texts/information into a layman’s language. - Strong
writing skills are essential - Fluent
in written Kinyarwanda ; - Fluent
in English - Availability
and self-motivated.

performed, 3 professional references for similar work, copies of degree(s), a
technical proposal detailing how he/she understands the task and how he/she
intends to tackle it as well as the financial proposal detailing the requested
budget (including applicable taxes).
