The Workers Compensation Commission is seeking
applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment as Deputy
Presi

dent.

  • Term
    opportunity for a period up to seven (7) years
  • Sydney
    CBD based role
  • Remuneration
    package at $308,440 per annum plus $16,990 conveyance allowance

Deputy Presidents are responsible for the
determination of appeals on the decisions of Arbitrators in relation to
disputes about workers’ compensation entitlements. This is a great
opportunity for a legal practitioner to join the Commission and apply their
knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience in the resolution of workers
compensation disputes, including the determination of appeals. 

 
To be successful in this role you will be a legal practitioner of at least 5
years standing with:
  • Excellent
    knowledge and experience in NSW workers’ compensation law, including an
    understanding of the jurisdiction, legislation, practice, procedures and
    subject matter dealt with by the Commission,
  • Strong
    ability to employ sound judgment and a structured approach to decision
    making, combined with demonstrated high-level writing skills,
  • Strong
    influence, communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
    to effectively interact with parties, Commission members and Commission
    staff,
  • Demonstrated
    integrity and impartiality/independence; and
  • Ability
    to operate within an electronic environment, including proficiency in
    Microsoft Word and Outlook.
 
You will be rewarded with an important role in making sound legal judgments
and case law determinations about benefits for injured workers.
