providing services to government and commercial clients in the mining, energy,
urban, and irrigation sectors.  SunWater has an existing network of water
infrastructure assets of some $7billion, including 19 major dams, 63 weirs, and
2,500km of pipelines and channel systems.

The
Bulk Water Systems group (BW&IS) is responsible for providing an extensive
range of management, planning, development and water delivery services across
our 23 bulk water supply schemes. The purpose of Bulk Water is to provide safe
and reliable bulk water supply in regional Queensland by:

    sharing and delivery
  • Drought
    and flood management
  • Ensuring
    asset safety and integrity
  • Applying

  • Enabling
    government water initiatives
  • Ensuring
    community safety and integrity

We
are looking for a temporary Geologist to provide specialist advice and
undertake  geological investigations associated with the planning,
development and management of bulk water infrastructure.
The
successful candidate will possess :
  • A
    proven ability to provide high level engineering geological  advice
  • Demonstrated
    effectiveness in delivering services and meeting performance targets 
    and contributing effectively to project teams to enhance commercial
    performance
  • Leadership
    and people management skills to successfully function independently or
    direct other  staff in the execution of a project
  • Ability
    to analyse geological and geophysical data and prepare reports for design
    and construction of major water infrastructure projects
  • High
    level written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare
    written technical reports, memos, presentations and other communications
    in a clear and logical manner
  • Well
    developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work
    collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve
    organisational objectives
  • More
    than five years work experience as a geologist
Essential
  • A
    Degree in Applied Science (Geology) from a recognised tertiary institution
    or other equivalent qualifications
  • Advanced
    understanding of geological data gathering techniques such as geological
    mapping and geotechnical borehole logging
  • Class
    ‘C’ drivers licence
Desirable
  • Experience
    working on or around hydraulic structures e.g. dams, weirs and barrages
  • A
    knowledge of hydrogeology, petrography and geophysics
  • Experience
    with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Basic, Golden Software, and Rocscience Inc.
    software
  • Registered
    professional geoscientist (AIG), chartered geologist (CGeol), or European
    geologist (EurGeol)
