is a young, rapidly scaling organization pioneering a new approach to international
aid. Spark proactively reaches out to rural poor villages and helps community
members to design, implement and manage their own social impact projects. Since
July 2010 we have mobilized over 50 communities in Rwanda and Uganda to manage
social impact projects including schools, community farms, electricity lines
and more.

Spark MicroGrants is seeking a full time Field
Communications Manager to spearhead our East Africa communications program. The
Communications Manager will be responsible for field story collecting and
reporting, facilitating communication between country teams and supporting on
HR initiatives. There will be a significant media and technology component to
the work. The ideal candidate would have media editing experience, as well as
basic computer coding knowledge. The right candidate must be motivated,
flexible and passionate about the chance to make a difference in the early
stages of a growing organization. The Communications Manager will receive
exceptional on the ground experience, have a rare opportunity to contribute to
the development of a new model for aid, and liaise with rural communities
working across sectors to improve their support systems.

Responsibilities will include:
– Collect media from the field to showcase Spark’s
impact on individuals and communities

– Work closely with all field staff to improve
their story collection skills, and mentor the Rwandan Communications Officer

– Work closely with Spark’s US-based Development

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required
- Strong communication skills a must, experience
writing for varied audiences preferred - Candidate must have demonstrated success in
past leadership - Experience with various forms of media
(photography, video, etc.) - Salesforce fluency or the ability to learn
quickly - Basic computer programming knowledge strongly
preferred - Superior organizational ability and
diligence: planning well and managing effectively - Flexibility and independence in work and
travel schedule - Passion for building international support
