The Sikh Research
Institute (SikhRI) Canada is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue
Agency seeking to develop a principle-driven community by protecting the core
and enlarging the resource pool. SikhRI’s mission is to produce educational
resources for the Sikh community. SikhRI is seeking a part-time BC Coordinator.
The BC Coordinator will help in the organization and management of major events
consisting of fundraising, lectures, workshops,

seminars, panel discussions,
and private meetings, and all local events throughout BC. This position reports
to the Operations Manager local board member will be liaison.

Job
Qualifications

  • At
    least three of years of working experience
  • Proficiency
    in English and Panjabi
  • Ability
    to manage multiple tasks, work under deadlines, and maintain high level of
    confidentiality
  • Some
    familiarity with Sikh culture, history, and religion
  • Excellent
    attention to detail and outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated,
    creative, flexible, initiator and good sense of humor
  • Ability
    to work both independently and as a key member of a team
  • Proficiency
    in MS Office and online teaching tools

Major
Responsibilitie

1. Event Planner:

  • Work
    directly with SikhRI Staff/Team and Event Planning team in preparation of
    event planning: pre, present and post
  • Assist
    in developing new programs that will generate maximum gain and exposure
  • Develop
    budgets for events, identifying all relevant costs and fundraising
    requirements (Financial and In-Kind)
  • Promotion
    of events via press release/kits and various community venues
  • Volunteer
    Recruitment and management: highlighting roles and responsibilities
  • Identify,
    confirm and manage all event venues and relevant logistics
  • Collect
    all data/documents scanning and uploading to online platform BOX

2. Fundraiser:

  • Explore
    new funding opportunities
  • Coordinator
    annual fundraising event in BC
  • Maintain
    excellent Member and Community Relations
  • Develop
    and maintain confidential donor & contact database in an appropriate
    and professional manner
  • Ensure
    that all donations are properly collected, deposited and receipted
  • Ensure
    that all expenses are appropriately approved, documented and reimbursed
  • Collect
    all data/documents scanning and uploading to online platform BOX
  • Write
    Final Report for every event including information on
    data/registrants/financial figures/testimonials; and disseminating report
    to the correct SikhRI Staff
  • Regular
    communication with Supervisor(s) and/or local liaisons and SikhRI
  • Maintain
    financial and administrative records including regular reporting
  • Develop
    new opportunities to build community awareness

3. Sojhi Planner:

  • Study
    the program genesis, materials and instructional effectiveness
  • Document
    procedural timelines
  • Liaison
    with member schools
  • Obtain
    feedback from different constituents of member schools
  • Develop
    and implement plan for effective curriculum implementation based on feedback
  • Develop
    and implement marketing plans for Sojhi curriculums and supplemental
    resources & programs
  • Assist
    in providing ongoing marketing support and guidance on long-term,
    strategic, day-to-day tactical program planning, and execution
  • Make
    recommendations for co-programming efforts

4. Other
Duties as Tasked

  • Other
    responsibilities as directed
  • Due to
    the nature of non-profit work, supervisor will assign work as needed
