As
the Sierra Club BC Major Gifts Coordinator you will be expected to steward
current major donors and identify, cultivate and steward prospective donors
into the Major Gift program. The Major Gifts Coordinator is responsible for the
Major and Planned Giving Programs. The successful applicant will be expected to
spend a significant portion of their time outside the office meeting with
donors and should be prepared to travel throughout BC.

Responsibilities:
- Create
and execute engagement strategies and maintain tracking for each major
donor
- Solicit
major gifts with direct asks - Working
with senior staff to identify key major donor giving opportunities, write
opportunity proposals and support senior staff, campaigners and board
members in solicitation and stewardship activities. - Apply
corporate screen to all new business prospects - Directly
solicit donations, including in-kind, upgrades from existing and new
business donors - Ensure
timeliness of gift collection, receipting, reporting and completion of
paperwork as required by executors or executor representatives. - Responsible
for database accuracy for expectancies, info requests and estates. - Maintain
and seek relationships with senior volunteers, allied professionals, and
executors. - Identify
planned giving prospects from existing database. - Include
planned giving as part of moves management strategy for major donors
- Draft
budget and track expenses for the Major and Corporate Gift program - Establish
quarterly projections and report progress to the Executive Director and
the Board as required - Under
the direction of the Executive Director, establish and meet donor
acquisition and gift increase targets - Plan
and manage donor stewardship events - Represent
Sierra Club BC Foundation to the corporate sector and identify donation
and sponsorship opportunities
- Utilize
Salesforce, our CRM/donor management database to: maintain accurate,
up-to-date tracking of all major gift prospects and donors and appropriate
documentation of all gifts, contacts, and calendars. - Maintain
Planned Giving Program
- Review
Major and Corporate Gifts policies and revise as necessary
Qualifications/Skills:
- Professional
certification in marketing, communications or similar field and at least 2
years of fundraising experience or equivalent knowledge and experience - Experience
within non-profit fundraising environment preferred - Demonstrated
track record of successful gift solicitation - Proven
experience with donor prospecting and stewardship - CFRE
or transferable experience in sales/marketing, business experience or
related advanced fundraising experience. AFP or CAGP membership are an
asset - Knowledge
and experience in Corporate Social Responsibility and Socially Responsible
Investing policies and practices - Current
knowledge of charitable tax gift regulations - Demonstrated
ability to lead volunteers. Previous experience with senior volunteer
boards and committees is essential - Excellent
communication and presentation skills
- Solid
negotiating and strong ‘closing’ skills
- Computer
literacy especially strong file management, CRM (Salesforce) ability,
intermediate to advanced Excel ability - The
ability to work in the Cloud and access files remotely - The
ability to work autonomously while keeping direct supervisors and
volunteers apprised of issues, problems, opportunities and progress - An
entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively to solve problems - Demonstrates
professionalism, integrity, diplomacy and tact
- Willing
to “pitch in” as part of office culture - Awareness
of social justice issues in addition to an avid interest in environmental
and climate issues
This
is a full-time position based in Victoria, BC. Some travel is required. Some
weekend and evening work is necessary. Salary will conform to Sierra Club BC’s
salary grid. The starting salary for this position is $43816.50 annually with
annual increases. We offer a generous vacation allowance and a solid benefits
package. Access to a vehicle is an asset (mileage is reimbursed).
