The setting for the study was the ante-natal clinic in Central Hospital
Sapele. The hospital is bounded in the north by Sapele market, to the south is Sapele
township stadium, to the west is the customary court and to the east is the
river Ethiope.

The hospital comprises of various unit and wards which include
ante-natal clinic, maternity ward, labour ward, children ward, medical and
surgical wards just to mention a few.

They have manpower of about 300 staff all at various capacity of services
with the medical director heading the hospital and the chief zonal nursing
