HOURS: Part-time, 3 days/24 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $18-$20/hr

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council (SSISC) is a
non-profit organization that works to minimize the threat of invasive species
in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Our programs include Education, Outreach and
Training, Stakeholder Coordination and Collaboration, and our Field Program
(Inventory, control and monitoring of invasive species). We are looking for an
extremely well organized, efficient individual with an interest in
environmental conservation to provide rock-star administrative and program
support to the Executive Director, Outreach Coordinator and Field Crews to help
us deliver our invasive species programs as efficiently and effectively as
possible.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The successful applicant will be expected to carry out a
variety of tasks and duties, including:
• Clerical support tasks & office administration (email, scheduling, manage
Dropbox filing system, data entry, communications, word processing and
spreadsheets, update grants timetable, manage mailing lists)
• Assist with financial management (enter financial data, prepare invoices,
receipts and financial statements, prepare payroll)
• Review and improve current work-planning and time-tracking systems;
• Provide board support (assist the Executive Director with planning board
meetings, preparing agendas and minutes)
• Assist the Outreach Coordinator with delivery of outreach programs and event
planning (booking meeting space, advertising, phoning program participants,
ordering printing, delivering program materials to participants, purchasing
equipment)
• Attend Outreach events throughout the Sea to Sky corridor with other SSISC
staff
• Write press releases, prepare quarterly e-newsletters, and design web and
print material to promote SSISC’s programs
• Document program delivery for funders (take photos and videos), and manage
SSISC’s photo library
• Update the SSISC website, and post to social media profiles
• Assist with grant reporting and preparation of funding applications
REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will:
• Be super organised, have well-developed clerical and admin skills, be
thorough and have good attention to detail
• Be a team player and have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Be a self-motivated individual able to work with minimal supervision
• Know their way around all MS Office programs, particularly formulas,
functions and pivot tables in Excel, and document design and preparation in MS
Word, PowerPoint & Publisher.
• Have experience with bookkeeping software
• Be tech savvy, and have experience using iPads and apps
• Be creative, have experience with social media, basic graphic design and
basic photo/video editing
• Have some knowledge of invasive plant identification and management
• Be able to work irregular hours including some weekends, holidays and evenings.
• Have a valid BC driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and
willingness to drive to locations throughout the corridor
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in biology/ecology,
resource management, horticulture, GIS, project management, non-profit work,
marketing, or applicants who are residents of the Sea to Sky Corridor.
